IDG Ventures invests in DreamViet
VietNamNet Bridge – IDG Ventures Vietnam, the first venture fund specializing in pumping capital into information technology, has officially announced their investment in DreamViet Corporation.
DreamViet is the company which owns and runs www.AHA.vn , the leading electronic portal providing online information and comparison shopping for consumer goods in Vietnam.
The director of DreamViet is a young businessman of the 1980s generation, who has been listed on the top 20 Asian outstanding businessmen nominated by Business Week journal.
DreamViet targets the operation field which has been not paid special attention in Vietnam: providing online information about consumer goods and comparing the prices of goods.
DreamViet’s business performance proves to be very promising. With the consumption growth rate of 25% in urban areas, Vietnamese consumers will need more and more trustworthy information about consumer goods prices, especially the new electronic products available on the market.
AHA.vn provides the service of comparing the prices of the goods provided by different suppliers. This is a very new service in Vietnam, which will help consumers to access more information about the market. Up to now, there have been just a few information channels about goods prices.
The information portal will provide consumers with more information for reference before deciding to purchase products, while helping producers more to access consumers easily. This proves to be a much better way to connect with consumers if compared to other ways.
AHA.vn will also help Vietnamese consumers change their traditional habits in shopping. Instead of coming directly to shops, people will be able to do shopping even while they stay at home.
Having a global investment fund in technologies with the total investment capital of more than $1bil, IDG Ventures is making investments and supporting Vietnamese companies in different fields to become the leading companies in the fast growing economy of Vietnam.
