International Data Group affirms support for Viet Nam

HCM City, June 3 (VNA) – The International Data Group (IDG) will implement a communications programme to support Viet Nam’s admission to the World Trade Organisation, said IDG Chairman Patrick J. McGovern in Ho Chi Minh City on June 3.

McGovern said that the world’s leading IT media and event company will introduce the image and potential of Viet Nam to the US’s mass communications agencies during the upcoming visit to America by Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

The IDG Chairman affirmed that the IDG is willing to invest 100 million USD in young Vietnamese companies with 35 percent of which would go to the software development, 20 percent, telecommunications and services infrastructure facilities, 15 percent, the internet, 15 percent, technological production and 15 percent biotechnology.

Regarding VinaGame and VietnamWorks.com/Navigos Group, the two companies invested in by the IDG Ventures Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, McGovern said the operation of these companies will contribute to developing the IT and telecommunications industry in Viet Nam.

The IDG Ventures Vietnam, the first American technology venture capital fund in Viet Nam, has since its foundation three months ago given a total of 5 million USD to four Vietnamese companies
